Sky Harbour is steadfast in maintaining and enhancing our commitment to strong corporate governance along with effective environmental and social responsibility practices. The following are ways in which we are demonstrating our strong to commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.
Fuel Sky Harbour is committed to addressing climate change and incorporating carbon reducing strategies such as the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and renewable energy sources at our campuses. We work with SAF vendors to supply our fuel farms and provide incentives to our tenants to utilize SAF to the greatest extent possible.
Facilities Design Sky Harbour works nationally with DYE | NBA Aviation Architecture, an award-winning, LEED-certified, design firm specializing in high-end general aviation facilities for more than 25 years. Our facilities carry LEED certification and are designed to blend harmoniously into the local landscape and community, with environmental responsibility as a primary consideration.
Materials Our facilities are constructed with reflective cool-roofs to minimize the heat island effect. We deliberately place internal and external LED lighting to reduce light pollution and enhance energy efficiency.
Transportation Sky Harbour provides designated vehicle parking with electric charging stations, located in prime parking areas and capable of participating in demand-response programs.
Renewable Energy Generation Rooftop photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on our hangars provide clean, low-cost electricity and help our campuses achieve near net zero electrical consumption footprint.
Zero emissions vehicles Sky Harbour uses electric, remote-controlled tugs to maneuver aircraft which contributes to our environmental stewardship at all of our locations.
Technology Sky Harbour’s proprietary Smart Hangar App is used to monitor and manage each hangar. This technology allows our tenants to control, and therefore reduce the use of energy. All via phone, tenants can control office lighting, hangar lights, office temperature, hangar fan controls, and monitor hangar temperature and humidity from anywhere in the world.
Sky Harbour endeavors to be a leader of the industry’s initiatives to address sustainability and is focused on reducing its carbon footprint. Sky Harbour’s hangar campuses are designed to reduce aircraft repositioning, which reduces fuel consumption, emissions, and noise pollution. Sky Harbour operates a fleet of all-electric ground support equipment. Sky Harbour’s hangar campuses are equipped with electric vehicle chargers and are electric-aircraft-charger-ready, the only hangars in the U.S. that are designed to meet the charging requirements of next generation electric aircraft. Sky Harbour hangars also include environmentally friendly features such as no-foam fire suppression.
Sky Harbour is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Human capital is the most valuable asset we have. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and company’s achievement as well.
We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.
Sky Harbour’s founding members and current staff are largely composed of former military aviators and officers. We have a strong commitment to helping our military veterans.
Sky Harbour co-leads a consortium created to establish a universal standard for Electric Aircraft charging. We plan to include infrastructure that will make our campuses a natural home base for electric aircraft. We are the only developer in the U.S. designing hangars to meet the charging requirements of next generation electric aircraft.
Sky Harbour is researching how it best can support new generations of alternate fuel aircraft. This includes making provisions to support high-capacity battery chargers for future fleets. Each hangar provides high voltage circuits for high-speed battery chargers for cars and ground service equipment.
